Rainmaking Loft Launches

Rainmaking Loft: September Launch Party

Shoreditch Office Space was lucky enough to meet the Rainmaking Team during the refurbishment of their St Katherine Docks space many, many weeks ago.On entering the first floor space, we were meet by a mixture of infectious enthusiasm and beautifully choreographed chaos. Oli Johnson, co-founder of the Rainmaking Loft, greeted me between glass partition walls being constructed around us. Even at this stage of construction, it was clear that this riverside space was going to set itself apart.

Fast forward two months and we are greeted by a far calmer Oli, welcoming guests to the official launch of the Rainmaking Loft. A non-profit organisation aimed at providing support and guidance to young start-ups, the project is a hub of innovative and exciting technological talent.IMG_1370With guests enjoying the ample food and beverages on offer, some partook in a lively game of ping pong (many, alas, in the wrong order). With a number of Tech City’s finest in attendance, visitors were able to explore the 10,000 sq ft of open plan co-working. Even with a few final touches waiting to be completed, the Rainmaking Loft already looks like the finished article.Brick archways frame stunning views of the water while Tower Bridge looms large at the opposite side.

Following brief speeches from, amongst others, co-founder Carsten Kolbek and newly announced sponsor Tesco, guests were invited to join the team on a Thames cruise. The top deck was a veritable Who’s Who in Tech City, with the chance to exchange a few words with promotion and events guru Joe Scarboro (of Three Beards fame), eRiple’s Duncan Peters (coming to a Central Working event near you soon), and TechHub’s Head of International Development James Knight (who took our last cigarette, but we mustn’t hold a grudge…).
