The Bakery

Recipe For Success

While some accelerators work hard to find a USP, others are able to do it effortlessly. The Bakery falls into the latter category.

A simple mission statement: to find the “most amazing technology companies in the world” and help them access global brands and solve their marketing challenges. There preconditions for application are equally straightforward: be brilliant.

We like this idea at Shoreditch Office Space. Whilst other accelerators primarily offer access to investment and mentoring, The Bakery offers direct access to the markets, client contracts and revenues, working directly with some of the world’s biggest brands and their agencies.

Recent success stories include London Brand Management, who have teamed up with BMW to create a truly incredible A.I. ‘question and answer’ interface system. Shoreditch Office Space were lucky enough to bump into the guys and girls from LBM on a recent tour of The Bakery (watch out for the “We knew them when” references coming soon!).

The accelerator is supported by a number of major brands including BMW, Panasonic, Heinz, AB InBev (brewer of Stella Artois) and Ideal Standard, which have set aside some funding to trial new technologies that could help them with their marketing challenges. As a “second stage” accelerator, The Bakery focuses on helping start ups get their first big client, as opposed to helping start ups to hone their product so that it is investor ready.

The space itself is bright and welcoming, with teams of start-ups huddled in clusters working feverishly on their own projects (between lattes and table tennis). Co-founders Alex Dunsdon, Andrew Humphries and Tom Salmon have worked hard to create an environment that fosters innovation and success.
